Homemade Coffee Ice Cream in Cones: Fall Cooking Challenge Week 3

"You said coffee, coffee, coffee." "Ah, no, see, I said 'coffee, coffee, coffee!" "Right." "As in I really need 'coffee, coffee, coffee.' You know?" "No." "'Coffee, Coffee, Coffee' is a saying, like an exaggeration. It's a funny, desperate cry for caffeine. It's just my thing because everyone knows I drink a lot of coffee."

"Let's go get some ice cream, and then, when we get back, I'll study." "This is a diner, there's ice cream here." "Yes, but we don't have any cones." "Cones." "I need cones." "Well, so if we go get ice cream- "-in coooones" "-then, you'll be a perfect student for the rest of the night. "


For the Ice cream:

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee granules

  • 2 tbsp hot water

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

For the cones:

I followed Bigger Bolder Baking’s Recipe for homemade cones here


  1. Dissolve the instant coffee into the hot water.

  2. Combine all ice cream ingredients in a medium bowl.

  3. Churn mixture in an ice cream maker or by hand. Allow to firm up in the freezer for a few hours.

  4. Scoop your coffee ice cream into your homemade ice cream cones by following Gemma’s directions.

When I did the episode, 2.19 Teach Me Tonight, I had my followers vote between Luke’s triple chocolate brownies and Jess’s ice cream in cooooones. The brownies won, but I had been secretly hoping to try my hand at making my own ice cream cones. Well, today is that day, my friends! While a little tricky to make, it was fun making them! Ice cream is my favorite food and coffee ice cream just happens to be my favorite flavor, so I was really excited about this one.
